I’m Jennifer Taylor.
I am a herbalist, doula, reiki practitioner and scientist who helps women rediscover their feminine beauty and find the complete path to healing.I have a broad and varied background in the biological sciences, and I have worked with women and young-adults for over 10 years as a consultant and teacher. I have also taught university-level biology, anatomy, and other sciences.
Can you recall the days where you didn’t feel like getting out of bed because of terrible menstrual cramps? What about that time you thought you had finally got your eczema breakouts under control but caught yourself scratching and suffering just a week later?
And remember that time where you tried a complete sugar detox program, but after 2 weeks, you were sick at the site of kale or anything green?
Well, I have been there, too. For a long time, I was dissatisfied with my health, my look…my life! I desperately wanting to do something about it.
I suffered from low energy, weight fluctuation, anxiety, eczema, and other issues that were holding me back from living a fulfilled life.
I had enough, but only after stepping out of my comfort zone, learning to listen to my body and to my inner voice did I embrace being holistic and natural.
I found a path through natural healing and never looked back.
We both know there’s no magic pill to get the body that you love and have amazing energy, but one thing I know for sure is that a holistic approach to wellbeing comes pretty close.
I was born in a small town in South Carolina to a single mother.
It was the deep south; therefore, I grew up eating overcooked collard greens, cheese puffs, and deep fried chicken. For a long time, this poor diet and mindset was all I knew.
I attended a highly respected, highly diverse, all women's college, and obtained a bachelor’s degree in biology.
This ignited a passion for studying female physiology and for being culturally sensitive to women's health needs all over the world.
I then went on to receive my first Master's degree in Biology, and a PhD in Physiology from the University of Arizona. I finished with a second Master's degree. My research was in cancer physiology - molecular and protein pathways of metastatic colon cancer.
As much as I loved investigating scientific theories, growing cells in culture, and running complex experiments, it wasn't what made my soul sing.
I knew I couldn't do it for the rest of my life, and there was something missing.
One day, I came across some old personal statements that I wrote for college applications. What was present in all of my applications was my desire to help people.
As I thought more deeply about what this meant - and how I would fulfill this desire, I found that I didn't just want to be in confined in a lab conducting experiments.
I knew my life was meant to have a different impact. I wanted to work with women to help rediscover within themselves the pathway to healing.
While working hard to build my reputation as a scientist, my health was rapidly deteriorating. With all the stress I was experiencing, I had one of the worst eczema breakouts ever in 2007. (I also now live with a huge scar on my back from a staph infection that I had 2 years before that!)
I loved learning, but little did I know at the time, I wasn’t walking in my purpose.
I disliked the fact that politics and funding competition trumped doing research that translated into helping real people.
I was also torn between wanting to be a renown pharmaceutical scientist in the field of cancer research, and wanting to listen to my inner voice, and possibly uncover new herbal health secrets.
Maybe you've been there - you know your everyday habits aren’t for your best good, but you're stuck trying to make a name for yourself, neglecting your own needs as you care for everyone else, or keeping a smile on or face, when all you really want to do is cry.
After taking a graduate course in disease mechanisms, I discovered that the body has a natural ability heal itself.
Since I was going through my own health challenges at the time, I began to dig deeper.
As an independent woman, scientist and avid knowledge seeker, I was compelled to do my own research.
I rediscovered herbs, which were always there as our original medicine - a natural supplement to health.
Herbal healing resonated deeply with me and decided to become a Certified Clinical Master Herbalist.I couldn't help but incorporate my passion for medicine and health with my love for plants and nature! I had found my calling! This is how I was going to help bring transformation into my life and the lives of others.
I began to remove toxins from my home, from my life, and from my mind. I began to meditate. I transitioned to a plant-based diet, I stopped using a microwave, and I made herbal-based products for my hair and skin.
I relied heavily on my science background to understand how the herbs that I began to take worked to heal and balance my body. And it still amazes me to this day how much harmony the herbs bring to your life.
It’s not easy being bombarded by fast food and Starbucks on every corner.
It’s not easy being tempted by donut smells wafting through the halls at work.
It’s not easy trying to do all you can to get off those medications that are causing you more pain than good.
My goal is to empower you to conquer your mistakes and troubles. To live a life of pleasure, not pain, and to be a beautiful, harmonious woman.
While herbs are the main tools that I use, I combine it with superfood nutrition, and spiritual guidance including Reiki, meditation, and mindfulness.
All of these combined create a powerful holistic approach to health for my clients.
I have seen first hand through my research how excessive weight can affect people’s lives.
It’s not your fault.
You have been sent the wrong message over the years because these unhealthy foods are forced in front of you through the media.
Research shows that 98% of food ads seen are for products that are considered junk food.
Even with this push to poor habits and food choices...
I understand the struggles that millions of people are going through, whether it be weight gain, depression, insomnia, or fibroids.
Life is a journey that can either lead you feeling tired, unfulfilled, and obese, or energetic, blissful, and feeling great.
